| | Super pumped-up Jeff before Super Bowl LVII |
|
Dear Readers, Almost precisely two years ago to the day, I sat at this very keyboard and wrote an ATB about the Eagles playing the Chiefs in the Super Bowl nine days hence. Today, I sit at this very trusty (and loud, I am told) keyboard once again to write my newsletter about the Eagles playing the Chiefs in the Super Bowl nine days hence. That was Super Bowl LVII. This is Super Bowl LIX. I do like Roman Numerals. I was born in MCMLXVII. Super Bowl LVII was in Phoenix. LIX is in New Orleans. For me personally, the biggest difference is that I went to Super Bowl LVII. I am watching this year’s Big Game from the comfort of my own home. While my overall trip to AZ was fun, the game was wretched (“Oh, the humanity”). It sucks to pay a real lot of money, travel to the Super Bowl, and lose. Most fortunately, I was also at Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis. Being there to see the Eagles win their first-ever Super Bowl was incredible. Truly one of the greatest moments of my life (you know, not including meeting my wife, the birth of my kids, my son’s Bar Mitzvah, yada, yada). So, I saw us win in person, and I saw us lose in person. This year, firmly ensconced in the City of Brotherly Love, I predict I will watch the Eagles win their second Super Bowl!! GO BIRDS!! Since this is the rematch against the Chiefs, here is the ATB I wrote on that Friday two years ago—titled "Some Philly Talk About the Chiefs." It is just as relevant today! And here is the follow up piece I wrote on 2/10/2023-- two days before that crushing Big Game. The highlight of this piece is the photo of my son Ezra wearing a Jason Kelce jersey and eating a hot dog on a green bun, as well as several interesting stories and takes on that upcoming game.

Now you are probably thinking, “Jeff, why all this downer negativity about the SB we lost to the Chiefs?” Because that is in the past. Exorcise those demons. This year, the Birds take down the Chiefs.
Plus, next week, I will appropriately shift my writing focus to the greatest single moment in Philly sports history… Super Bowl LII. GO BIRDS!! Have a great weekend.
Warm regards,
Jeff |
