Old City consists of the neighborhood bounded by Florist Street to the north, Walnut/Dock Streets to the south, Front Street to the east and 6th Street to the west. Unofficially, the Old City neighborhood also includes the waterfront area along Delaware Avenue from Race Street to Walnut Street and the area above the Ben Franklin Bridge, north to Wood Street from 2nd to 6th Streets. Adjacent to Independence Mall, where our Founding Fathers declared liberty, Old City still boasts picturesque, cobblestone streets and plenty of 18th-century charm — along with an independent streak evident in everything from its owner-operated shops to its edgy and ever-growing art scene. People love the neighborhood for its fashionable and sometimes eye-brow raising boutiques, great restaurants, eclectic galleries and theaters, and vibrant nightlife. Especially popular on first Fridays of each month, art lovers fill the streets for year-round art walks and hop from gallery to gallery. Three other things to love about Old City? “Old City Eats,” “Historic Holidays,” and Old City Fest. Find out more about these annual events here.
