Urban Congestion is Expensive!
|
SEPTA just released a study that stated—and let me paraphrase— traffic in Center City Philly sucks, and it costs SEPTA, the city, and you (the driver) money, and we need to fix it.
Not sure that needed a study, but for those (like me) who like to know numbers, statistics, and various analyses, then you can read about this study in the Philadelphia Business Journal (paywall), Inquirer.com (paywall), and Curbed (no paywall).
As always, I love to discuss Philly traffic, sports, real estate, taxes, and restaurants (and anything else Philly), so let me know if you have any questions.
Have a great summer weekend.

A free concert kicks off at 6 pm. Get there early for complimentary treats from Ben & Jerry’s and Qdoba. Balloon animals and face painting await your kids. Can’t make it? Don’t worry. There’s another Summer Series Concert on 8/17. More info here.

Jonathan Adler – Interior Rockstar (up to 70% off right now)
Using color and whimsy, with a little bit of controversy thrown in for good measure, JA is always on point when it comes to modern design. There’s just something about his eye that screams luxe throwback – in a good way. Shop where retro meets mod and lasso a cool accent pillow or decorative bowl for yourself or for someone else. Christmas is only 165 days away. Free shipping for orders over $150. I love the Elba Wing Chair.

The Phillies vs. The Nationals
Oh, it’s on. Enjoy a 3-game set at Citizens Bank Park this weekend. And here’s a bonus…Fireworks (after games tonight and Saturday). By the way, one of the greatest all-time Phils, Ryan Howard, will say goodbye to baseball forever. There’s a special ceremony in his honor on Sunday before the game. It’s going to be hot this weekend so be sure to hydrate and keep cool by taking breaks from the sun.
BTW, pre-achilles injury Ryan Howard was a monster!

Did Your favorite Instagram Spot Make Curbed’s list?
What could be cool is to spearhead an IG Scavenger hunt and use the 11 “mystery spots” in this piece by Curbed Philly. Give clues and hints and let participants find these iconic and colorful destinations – make it snappy! I like the cool views from Cherry Street Pier and the “Philly Special” mural. Here are the top 11 snappiest locales.

Getting Canned at BOK
Three things I love are architecture, creativity, and giving back. This annual event combines all three in a hat-trick of fun.
Canstruction® is an awesome international community service initiative organized by Philly’s local design and construction companies. Teams compete to build “wow-factor” canned food creations. Canstruction’s 5th Annual Philadelphia Design/Build Competition puts a visual spotlight on hunger while showcasing the Philadelphia design community’s talent pool. All cans used get donated. Cool, right?
7/13 – 7/17,
