| | Hello ATB Readers, I do not generally do election endorsements. In fact, I have never done one. But when your friend from when you were a little kid, through high school, and then law school is running for Judge of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, well then, I need to consider. Even then, I would still say nothing at all if the judicial candidate were not highly ethical, fair-minded, experienced, and intelligent. Something that cannot be said for everyone running for Judge in Philadelphia, for sure. Will Braveman is all these things, and Philadelphia will be a better place, with a higher quality court system, if Will is elected. Election Day is Tuesday, May 20th in-person, and the city just sent out mail ballots in the past week. Here are the reasons to vote for Will for Judge. Please note, I will be alternating between serious, substantive reasons to support Will and somewhat goofy, personal reasons based on us being friends. Will is Recommended by the Philadelphia Bar Association. Let me include the entire list so you also know who not to vote for: Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas (nine seats open)
Recommended: William Braveman, Irina Ehrlich, Larry Farnese, Kia Ghee, Sarah Jones, Leon A. King, II, Brian Kisielewski, Anthony Stefanski, Deborah Watson-Stokes Not Recommended: Qawi Abdul-Rahman, Sherrie Cohen, Taniesha Henry Will and I used to hang out at the Park Towne Place pool when we were real little kids. Three or four years old, maybe. At 22nd & The Parkway. The early 1970s.
Will has a lot of endorsements. Though I am pretty sure none are as important as this one right here!
Will and I both attended Friends Select School and Temple Law together. I am a year older, and we graduated from both one year apart.
When I was little, I always thought his last name was Baverman. I don’t think I realized it was Braveman until high school. Will will probably learn this fact while reading this ATB.
Here are some details about Will from his campaign website. Some highlights -- Will spent the first 14 years of his career as a public servant. --After clerking for two Common Pleas Judges, Will spent 12 years as an Assistant and Deputy City Solicitor in the City of Philadelphia’s Law Department. --During that time, and in the 12 years of private practice thereafter, Will has handled thousands of case trials or hearings to verdict or settlement. --Will lectures on a regular basis on topics including Labor Law, Employment Law, and Mental Health Law. --Throughout his career, Will has prioritized community volunteer work and youth sports coaching. He is a 13-time First Judicial District Pro Bono Award recipient.
Will and I used to play stickball in the McCall School playground. That was a blast. We actually never broke anything or got in trouble.
Will received the Number 1 Ballot Slot on this year’s ballot (both in person and by mail). While the ballot positioning is done by random lottery, in my humble opinion, Will is the Number 1 Candidate in this year’s election-- by far. Will is experienced, humble, and smart. He is a lifelong Philadelphian who has lived in Bella Vista for the past 22 years with his family (Will's wife is also a Friends Select grad).
Will and longtime City Block Team Senior Listing Coordinator Greg Zarro are also friends from High School. FSS Class of 1986. Go Falcons!!
Will is a former DJ and music aficionado. His campaign events included the “Let the Record Reflect” series of jazz, rock, and hip-hop concerts at Johnny Brenda’s, Silk City, and other top venues.
Check out this video.
Like Will, in 1994, I was also a Law Clerk in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. I worked for the late Hon. Murray C Goldman, who was awesome. And today, Judge Goldman's daughter Amy has taught both of my boys at Hebrew School. Amy is the absolute best.
When you send in your mail ballot or go to the polls, please consider voting for Will Braveman for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
Finally, note that this is not a partisan endorsement. Will is running in the Democratic primary against other Democrats, so if you are a registered Democrat eligible to vote in the Democratic primary, please cast your vote for the No. 1 Ballot Position—William Braveman for the Court of Common Pleas. And whoever you plan to vote for in the upcoming municipal primary election, I hope that you do make it a priority to vote. Have a great weekend. Best, Jeff |

This ground-up new construction is designed by the renowned C2 Architecture and developed by award-winning Bancroft Green (both local). With the Philadelphia 10-year TAX ABATEMENT, this new construction is anything but cookie-cutter. Rather it offers the tasteful high-end finishes that you would expect to see in such a brilliantly designed custom home. Spectacular, custom, light-filled spaces throughout, including high ceilings; hard eucalyptus floors; huge European windows of the highest quality (with superb energy efficiency and sound attenuation); cathedral ceilings; and exquisite, contemporary finishes. This deck and the entire rear of the home overlook the substantially oversized grassy, wooded lot that is fully removed from the city around. Hear the birds chirping and not much else. This area is one of the larger, natural outdoor spaces you will find in the city. A balcony off the primary suite also overlooks this natural lot. In the front, there is a small yard, some landscaping, and a nice patio space. The home is also set back from the street with the driveway, which offers side-by-side parking plus an easy turnaround. The front setback provides ample privacy and buffer from the street, while the heart of the home is geared towards the rear.
This home offers flexible space for various needs. For example, the first floor has its own suite, with available connection to the first-floor main living space plus a separate exterior entrance—perfect for intergenerational families, a professional office, a main level primary suite, or a den/office/guest room combo. There is a spectacular 2nd floor primary suite, another full suite in the walk-out lower level (plus the family and great room), and three other bedrooms.
As you look through this home with its huge European tilt-n-turn (plus casement functionality) OKNOPLAST® windows, you will not believe you are in the city. This lot offers a green and woodsy feel. Other features include the custom steel and wood stairs with floor to ceiling windows. High ceilings throughout, including pitched, 20-foot ceilings; a 2-story atrium; butler pantry; Eucalyptus floors throughout; excellent storage throughout; custom cabinetry from Studio Cidra (American modern furniture handmade in Philadelphia); and quartz countertops throughout kitchen and all baths, KitchenAid high end appliances (including wine fridge and induction cooktop), and 2-zone high efficiency Bosch heat pumps.
