- Download the “Let’s Roam” mobile app and check out the free public art scavenger hunt, Northern Liberties Mural Hunt: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Street Art. Users can hunt down more than 20 murals throughout the neighborhood and finish mini-missions for a chance to win weekly prizes (May 28 – July 5).

On Saturday the Garden Railway opened at Morris Arboretum. It features an impressive quarter-mile track with 7 loops and tunnels, 15 different rail lines, 2 cable cars, and 9 bridges, including a trestle bridge large enough that visitors can walk under it.

Help kick off the installation Al-Mudhif at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education. An Iraqi guesthouse made from reed grasses called phragmites will be created by American veterans, Iraqi refugees, and environmental artist and Iraqi designer Sarah Kavage (opens Monday, May 31).

Every Thursday on Main Street during Manayunk’s Stroll the Street, shops, bars, and restaurants offer special deals and sidewalk sales.

Memorial Day Weekend Events

Head to the Museum of the American Revolution for Memorial Day weekend programming. Some of the highlights are pop-up talks about Revolutionary veterans, a postcard station to support families of service members, and replica objects from a Philly flagmaker. Veterans, military, and Blue Star Families can reserve a free ticket online using code MEMDAY21.

Check out the debut of Difficult Journey Home, at the Independence Seaport Museum. The exhibit aboard the Cruiser Olympia focuses on the ship’s transfer of a deceased unknown soldier across the Atlantic 100 years ago. There is a new historic marker in the soldier’s honor. Guests can also explore the ship’s quarterdeck, accessible for the first time in 20 years. Additionally, Paddle Penn’s Landing opened for the season on Friday for visitors who want to cruise the water in a rowboat, kayak, swan, or dragon boat.
