| Hi Readers, As the busy spring market continues, I have not had as much time to write about Philly sports as we enjoy opening day and the beginning of the Phillies season. And even if the spring market had been eerily slow, I would have had neither the time nor the inclination to write about the Sixers. Blech! But on this Friday afternoon, let me take a few to catch up on where things stand: First, and most importantly, the Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl Champs. Second, the Phils opened their season last week and currently sit at 5-1. Now the 8-0 Dodgers come to town. Go Phils! Also, how are the Braves doing so far? LOL. Third, the Flyers fired their coach, have gone 3-0 since then, and hopefully slow down on this little winning streak, so they can still nab a top 5 pick in the draft. I mean, they were in 4th position and now have now dropped down to 6th. Either way, they have lots of higher picks over the next two drafts and should have a solid future. They could use a few more losses and some lottery luck. And speaking of needing serious lottery luck… Finally, the 76ers. Wow. What can you say but “Trust the Process?” And by that, I mean the lottery process because the only thing that could turn this season into a mere simple disaster (as opposed to an all-time unmitigated disaster) is if they hold onto their Top-6 protected 1st round pick. They are certainly playing bad enough (i.e., tanking hard enough) to do that. Now they just need some lottery luck as well. We shall see. And will their cadre of young players ever be quality rotation guys on a good team? That remains to be seen. Will Embiid come back as a force? Will PG ever be a halfway decent player again? It is possible that the answer to both of these questions is a coin flip at best. Wait a second. Did I just write more about the 76ers than the other three teams combined? Oy vey. I hope you have a great weekend. Best, Jeff |
