It’s Actually Easy Being Green
|
My family is trying to reduce our carbon footprint. Spearheaded by my wife, Kristen, one thing we are working hard on is reducing our landfill waste. At first, I was skeptical, but now that we have been doing it for over a year, I have really bought in. It is actually fun, and the key is, even if you just do one small thing, that makes a difference…
because despite what Kermit says, it’s actually easy being green. Here are a few things we are doing…
Putting virtually no plastic in the trash (i.e., landfill). As you may know, many plastics are not recyclable. They end up in the landfill whether you stick them in the trash or recycling bin. Even worse, if you put them in the recycle bin, they can actually damage the recycling equipment, slow the process, or contaminate good recycling….

Happy Easter and Happy Passover to all,

Eggs with a Side of Tech
For kids (and parents) who like the geekier side of Easter egg hunts, Tyler Arboretum brainstormed a new take on this beloved holiday activity. How about using a GPS to find decorated eggs hidden all over the campus? Cool, right? Participants (ages 4+) can solve fun riddles along the way. You can “BYOGPS” or borrow one from the event organizers onsite. There are morning and afternoon sessions on Saturday, 4/20. Click here for details and to register.

What to Bring Your Host on Passover
Coconut Macaroons dipped in rich chocolate? Pesadich Kamish bread, honey cake, flourless chocolate cake? This list of local bakeries which was originally published by CBS-3 Philly is a road map to awesome gifts for those who invite you to Seder. They also make it easy to keep Passover during the week ahead!

Get Ready for Five Blocks of Good Eats Sunday, April 28 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
There’s no shortage of culinary strolls in this foodie town, but this one stands out IMHO. Personally, I love trying different creations and the pricing at this event is pretty benevolent ($3 – $6 average per food item) which means I’m diving into offerings from Le Virtù, Izumi, P’unk Burger, Bing Bing Dim Sum, Catina Los Cabillitos and more. ProTip: An elastic waistband is your friend as you peruse Broad to Dickinson. More info here.
