The Spring Market and
Spring Break
The 2023 real estate market had gotten off to a slower start. To recap, higher interest rates and exceedingly low inventory have kept the number of listings and transactions down across the board. At the same time, rates have stabilized and are actually quite low historically speaking. Accordingly, buyer demand, which had decreased, has also stabilized, and in combination with the low inventory has kept prices stable as well.
The bottom line is there appears to be a lot of stability in the market right now. Solid but not crazy.
Now rewind to 2002. Rates were actually higher than they are now, and the market was as red-hot as it had ever been. No inventory shortage two decades ago, that is for sure. It was my first full year in the business, and I learned then that March and April were the two months when I would not go away. No vacations. No Spring Training in Clearwater. Nothing. I have three other seasons to travel with my family!
But this year is different. Things seemed like they might be a little slower, yes. But that wasn’t really it. I am always busy and love to work. But this is the year when we have one 12-year-old and one seven-year-old, and they both love Harry Potter at the same time. Who knows about next year. One will be a teenager about to turn 14. Time flies and you do not get it back. So, we scheduled a trip to Universal Orlando and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. And I was not going to miss that!!
So, the boys’ Spring Break starts today, and you know what, all of a sudden, BANG!! I am as busy as ever. Listings coming in and going on the market. Buyers making moves. Agreements to negotiate. All of it. The 2023 spring market is here! And all it took was scheduling a few days out of the office to bring it on. Every Realtor (and probably every businessperson) knows that when things are a little slow, get ready to leave for a vacation, and it all gets going! Even if only out of the office for a few days
Finishing up stuff this morning then off to Diagon Alley with iPhone and laptop in hand! I can’t wait! And looking forward to the hot spring market continuing!
