In this issue, Jeff introduces The City Block Green Team and talks about the idea of taking small steps in an effort to be more environmentally conscious. “If everyone found at least one small area where they could cut back their carbon footprint, that would be huge.”
Please note that this original date of publication of this edition of Around the Block was Friday, 2/28/20. Your Weekly Dose of Real Estate News, Open Houses, Listings and More — by Jeff “City” Block
Introducing the
City Block Green Team.
An occasional and ongoing series on taking simple action to help the planet.
Green Winter.
Yes, the weather has been more akin to early spring and some blooming has taken place already, but I am referring to green as in sustainability. Every little thing makes a difference, and I want City Block Team (myself included), to play our part in 2020 and beyond.
To get started, let’s spring into action and reuse. My wife and I have about 30 (maybe more) once-used moving boxes that we have broken down and have had in our basement for about a year. They are of various sizes, in excellent condition, and available to anyone who is moving, needs storage boxes, or has another use for lightly used U-Haul and Lowe’s boxes.
These boxes are free of course, and the only stipulation is that when you are done with them, you reuse, repurpose, or properly recycle them. Please just reply if you have interest or want more information on exactly what we have, logistics, etc.
And in the coming weeks and months, I will discuss and provide information on Circular-Free Philly, Composting in Philly, TerraCycle, and more.
An important note. This is a no-judgment zone. I am not perfect. There are some areas where my carbon footprint extends and some where I have really cut back. That is the key. If everyone found at least one small area where they could cut back their carbon footprint, that would be huge. Reusing some boxes is a good place to start (or continue).
