Hi,
My wife and I had been to DC when we were younger but never together. And our boys had never been there. Everyone seems to know this already, but what a great city for a weekend trip with the kids. Ours are 13 and 8 but really any age. The boys had off Friday and Monday, so we packed a lot into this awesome President’s Day Weekend. Highlights included these three Smithsonian museums: National Museum of Natural History, the National Air and Space Museum, Hirshhorn Museum, plus the Washington National Cathedral, Arlington National Cemetery, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and Korean War Veterans Memorial. We also had one of the best Indian meals we ever had—at Rasika. In fact, two of the best meals, because we went back a second night for takeout, which we ate in the hotel room with a movie (Pretty hard to beat the family hotel room hangout!).
I personally loved the Air and Space Museum. Spent like 90 minutes in the Wright Brothers exhibit. Just fascinating. If you have never been to the National Cathedral, totally worth a tour next time you visit DC. With or without the kids. The Cathedral is breathtaking and the stories and logistics behind it are captivating. We had never planned to go to Arlington National Cemetery but a wrong turn while looking for parking by the Lincoln Memorial took us across the Potomac and we decided to stay. I am so glad we did. What a beautiful, memorable, and solemn place. I feel so lucky to have visited. The Lincoln, Vietnam, and Korean Memorials are clustered together for a quick, really meaningful visit.
So all of this and our time in Georgetown made for a fabulous weekend getaway. And now we want to go back—even for just a two-day weekend. So much more to see.
Now one thing I love about going away is how much I always enjoy coming back to Philly. I mean Philly is the best city in which to live, but not bad being a quick car or train ride away to some of our nation’s best weekend getaways.
And here are a few photos of our weekend.

Detached single home. Currently set up as a triplex with front porch and rear yard. Would be amazing as a single family home with significant character or a duplex or triplex for an owner occupant. This rare University City Single is in prime PAS Catchment Location. Beautiful character and excellent light. Central air and separated utilities. Updated electric. Newer Roofing. Tenants’ lease structures offer maximum buyer flexibility for owner occupant. Eclectic, quirky character. Legally zoned for five units and currently configured for three.
A superb home in an ideal location. Easy walk to Clark Park and its fabulous Farmers’ Market, Knockbox Cafe, ReAnimator Coffee, Baltimore Avenue’s Restaurant Row (so many places to eat), Penn Alexander Catchment School, Clarkville, Green Line, TacoTaco Mexican, Local 44 and the Bottle Shop, CVS, and so many coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping. Close to HUP, CHOP, Penn, Drexel, St Joe’s Science Campus . 10 minutes to Center City by car or bike and plenty of convenient SEPTA options. Perfect for the owner occupant, whether as a single family or income producing property.
