Hey ATB Readers,
Back in 2018, I sold an awesome home on W Mt Pleasant Avenue in Mt Airy to my friend and client Chris Petersen and his wife Tracey. It was particularly memorable because Chris and his family moved from West Philly to West Mt. Airy at the same time that my family and I made the exact same move. We both closed on our Mt Airy homes the same month.
Now, I love Mt Airy, but one thing it lacks is a bevy of great coffee shops, breakfast, bagels, etc. Forget the bevy—is there even one place where you can get a bagel and cream cheese or breakfast sandwich and a fresh coffee? The answer is no, but on Sunday, that will change.
Little did I know back in 2018 that Chris Petersen would open a coffee shop with bagels, pastries, and sandwiches (breakfast & lunch) just a ½ block down from his home on the corner of W. Mt Pleasant & Emlen. (Little did Chris know as well). There were recent hints, of course, as Chris ran the pandemic-era Mt Airy Coffee as an occasional pop-up out of his home. But now he has moved down the block for the greatly enhanced brick-and-mortar jawn.
Coming this Sunday, at 8:00 am, I am pleased to announce the Grand Opening of Mt. Airy Coffee Company at 7101 Emlen Street. Here is a sneak peek of this bright corner shop, which will serve Ultimo Coffee.

Yesterday, Chris told me “I am excited to bring a new coffee experience to my neighborhood in West Mt Airy. Thank you the the community who has supported the shop and will launch this new venture on Sunday.”
We will be out of town on Sunday for the grand opening, but I look forward to checking out Mt. Airy Coffee next week. Best of luck, Chris. It will be an amazing addition to the neighborhood.
