Today (Thursday, 10/21) is among the rarest of days for me and my family. I am super excited, and this will be totally worth it.
Back in June, Kristen and I decided we would take the kids out of school one afternoon and go see Hamilton at the Academy of Music. We bought tickets and… “Wait for It”… today is the day.
Now we never just take the kids out of school, but my family loves Hamilton. We have listened to the soundtrack like a bazillion times and watched the show with the original cast on Disney+. We thought that maybe “That Would Be Enough,” but we were not “Satisfied.” We wanted to be in “The Room Where It Happens.” I for one did not want to miss “My Shot” to see “Alexander Hamilton” and “Aaron Burr, Sir.” So, we thought the family should “Take a Break” and make some family memories. Rare for a weekday afternoon for sure. So of course, “We Know” the show and “What Comes Next,” but we also know that seeing live theater is a whole different experience. Two of my best childhood memories are my dad taking me to see A Chorus Line at the Forrest Theatre and my mom taking me to see The King and I (with Yul Brynner!!) in the late 70s.
So, this morning I am working “Non-Stop” with no time to “Take a Break,” as I told Kristen (the “Best of Wives and Best of Women,” BTW) to “Meet Me Inside” the Academy at 12:15. Ok, actually, we are meeting outside and going in together, but I just wanted to get a Hamilton song title in “One Last Time.”
Meanwhile, back at the office, my amazing staff, including “Right Hand Man” and Listing Coordinator Greg Zarro and Right Hand Women Megan Hoey, Katrina Kugelmeier, and Amber Joseph will be holding down the fort (assuredly more successfully than the American Army did in the Battle of Fort Washington in 1776). They will be anything but “Helpless” and will “Blow Us All Away” with their excellent work, as always. During the show, I will have my phone on Do Not Disturb, and I hope “It’s Quiet Uptown,” but anyone who can say, “I Know Him” knows that as soon as it ends, my first question will be, “What’d I Miss.”
Have a great weekend, everyone.
I have the honor to be “Your Obedient Servant.”
