I am definitely getting a vaccine booster in the next week or two. Not the COVID booster. I am not even eligible yet because I had the Moderna jabs, and only some Pfizer recipients are generally eligible for boosters at this time. I am getting the flu vaccine, which I get every year. With COVID, it is as important as ever to get the flu vaccine and for kids to get it as well.
And it seems as if the COVID vaccine will be authorized for children ages 6-11 by the end of the year, if not within the next month or two. My boys happen to be 11 and 6, so that is great news for my family.
With respect to the COVID boosters, here is a piece that explains the process for that.
I am taking the City Block Team to Zahav in a couple of weeks for one of our team dinners. We used to have them more regularly, of course, but the pandemic has squashed that. Earlier this year, we did an outside dinner at Xochitl on Head House Square. Sitting under the Shambles was a lot of fun. And the reason I chose Zahav this time around (in addition to it being one of the best restaurants on the planet!) is because you have to show proof of vax to dine there. That works for our group and helps to keep us safe. I can’t wait for some hummus and Pomegranate Lamb Shoulder!

Franklin Square brings back its Spooky Mini Golf, and extends its hours from 10 am to 10 pm for the entire month of October. The park’s course will be decorated with cobwebs and lights, and fog and eerie noises will add to the experience.

Every weekend in October, the Franklin Institute offers trick or treating in the museum along with three new Halloween-inspired science shows. These performances include, “That’s Gross,” “Dr. Franklinstein’s Pumpkin Lab,” and “Pondering Plasma.”

Philly is known for its spectacular murals and this October is Mural Arts Month. This month-long event celebrates of all the ways Mural Arts Philadelphia uses art to transform public spaces and individual lives. This year’s theme is Re-Emergence, and is all about Philadelphian’s united return to the norm.
Activities this month include a block party, public paint days, community events, artist spotlights, and more.
