Streaming Recommendations |
| |
| Hi Readers, I enjoy streaming quality shows in different genres, and I wanted to share a few of these with you today. If you discover even one good recommendation from this week’s ATB, then I consider this a resounding success. Obviously, not everyone has subscriptions to every service, so I tried to diversify the content here. I am also going to avoid recommending obvious classics, so you will not hear about Breaking Bad or The Wire here. Or even contemporary “classics” that I think most people are well aware of at this point—such as Only Murders in the Building, Ted Lasso, and Abbot Elementary (all worth watching, of course). You will also notice that this list only includes scripted shows. No reality or documentaries. I really enjoy documentaries (not a reality guy), but I do not include any on this list. I also watch more dramas than comedies, so that is reflected below as well. The Goes Wrong Show — This comedy is absurdly hilarious for the entire family. Highly recommend. Season One is included on Prime. Life in Pieces — This sitcom is absurdly hilarious and definitely not for the entire family. Among the funniest sitcoms of all time. All four seasons on Hulu. Lupin — This Netflix show is in French with English subtitles. Omar Sy plays the wily, lovable criminal who models himself after the literary fictional character Arsène Lupin—the French Gentleman Thief. An awesome cat & mouse style thriller. Three seasons. The Tourist — This quirky Australian action mystery drama started off on HBO, and now both seasons can be found on Netflix. Season one takes place in Australia and season two in Ireland. Terrific characters, excellent mystery, dry humor. Line of Duty — If you like police procedurals, this British show is really popular in Great Britain and with good reason. One of the best. Highly recommend. This show is on BritBox--a Prime add-on. If you like British Telly, then BritBox is a must for you. I watch it as much as any other streaming service. Yes, there are lots of bent coppers out there. Severance — This sci-fi mind-bender is messed up and strongly recommended. Starring Adam Scott (from Parks & Rec) and Patricia Arquette. Season one is nine episodes and best of all, season two premieres on January 17th. An AppleTV Original.
Please let me know if you watch any of these shows already or what you think if you check them out. Also, if anyone has any recommendations for me, I would love to hear them. I hope you have a great weekend. Best, Jeff |
